What shipped and when, without the marketing gloss. ReciteMail has been in development since November 2024 and went on sale in July 2026. It updates itself quietly when you quit the app. You are usually on the newest version already. Your installed version is shown in the app under Settings, About.

0.1.12 - 3 September 2026

• House voice: add the people who wrote your team's emails before you (a previous colleague, the owner) and drafts learn from their sent mail while still signing as you. ReciteMail spots this automatically when you import someone else's sent folder and asks one question.
• The team pack now carries company facts, banned words, contacts and the house voice list as well as templates. A new starter is set up from one file. You tick what goes in. Your name and signature never do.
• New Guide tab in the sidebar: the full setup guide and the videos, step by step, with a shortcut to the right screen from every section.
• Colleagues on your own email domain are labelled Colleague in the Library rather than Customer and never confuse a draft.
• Fixed: drafts could open by repeating the sender's own email back to them ("We understand that the items are out of stock until October"). They now go straight to the answer.
• Faster: the app opens in under a second, switching tabs is snappier and the app itself is smaller.

0.1.11 - 30 August 2026

• Fixed: drafts could open with the wrong time-of-day greeting, saying "Good morning" in the afternoon or the other way round. The app knew your local time but drafting did not always respect it. It now does, on every draft.
• A broad round of security hardening across the app and our servers. Sign-in protections are stronger, outbound account emails are better guarded against abuse and the way the app protects data on your machine is stricter than ever. Nothing changes in how you use ReciteMail day to day.
• New passwords now need to be at least 10 characters. Existing passwords are unaffected.

0.1.10 - 21 August 2026

• Drafts now follow your language automatically. Dictate or type your brief in Spanish and the reply comes out in Spanish, whatever language the customer wrote in. With no brief, the reply matches the language of the email you are answering. The Translate buttons still work as before if you want the finished text in another language.
• New installs no longer hide the window when you click away. If you liked that behaviour, the toggle is still under Settings, Window Behaviour. Existing installs keep whatever you chose.
• Hardened the account signup flow against automated abuse.

0.1.9 - 8 August 2026

• Fixed: drafts were drawing on the same two imported emails every time. The voice sample added in 0.1.8 always picked your two most recent threads, which meant the rest of your library went unused however much you had imported. Drafts now sample across your recent archive and change from one draft to the next.
• Fixed: drafts started from a screenshot or your voice found no related past emails. ReciteMail now searches your library using your spoken brief, which means those drafts get matched to how you handled similar situations before, the same way a pasted email always did.

0.1.8 - 6 August 2026

• Your voice in every draft. Every draft now carries a sample of your own recent sent emails, whether you paste text, snip a screenshot or just dictate. Replies sound like you across every way of drafting.
• Drafts read even more natural. Greetings use the sender's name, replies match the length of the email they answer and stock phrases like "I hope this email finds you well" never appear.
• Sign-offs are proper phrases. Always at least two words, "Best regards," rather than a bare "Best,".
• Billing messages that explain themselves. If Manage billing cannot open, the app now tells you the actual reason instead of one vague line. It always leaves you a way to reach us. Accounts that have never had a subscription get a plain explanation rather than what looked like a broken button.

0.1.7 - 26 July 2026

• Clicking back into ReciteMail from another program is quicker. The app used to re-check your account details every single time the window regained focus, which added a pause to something you do dozens of times a day. It now remembers for a minute at a time.

0.1.6 - 25 July 2026

• Company Facts. Put your returns window, dispatch times, opening hours and warranty terms in Settings. Drafts then state your real policy instead of guessing at one. Anything your facts do not cover, the draft says it will check rather than inventing an answer.
• Team packs. Share your templates with the rest of your team in one file. It carries templates only, never your name, address or signature. Nobody ends up sending mail signed as someone else. They press Import and the app confirms their own identity was left alone.
• Spell check where you write. Misspellings are underlined in the brief, the pasted email, the revise box and the draft itself. Right-click an underlined word for suggestions or add it to your dictionary. Company names from your Suppliers & Contacts list are never flagged. Your regular suppliers stop being underlined in every draft.
• Settings files are checked more carefully when they are imported.

0.1.5 - 24 July 2026

• Draft without writing any instructions. Paste, snip or dictate the email you received, press Create Draft and ReciteMail works out the right reply from the email itself. Anything only you could know appears as a [bracketed placeholder] for you to fill in.
• Fixed drafts falling back to an offline preview when a long past conversation was matched as a style reference. Long threads are handled properly now.
• The app window no longer changes size on its own on setups where the laptop screen and monitor use different display scaling.
• The snip overlay now covers the entire screen on every monitor, including scaled displays.

0.1.4 - 23 July 2026

• Import just your Sent folder and ReciteMail rebuilds both sides of every conversation. It reads each reply you sent and recovers the message you were answering. One export brings your whole history to life.
• Suppliers became Suppliers & Contacts. Tag a person as a supplier, client, partner or teammate and every draft to them lands in the right register, firm with a supplier, short and easy with a teammate.
• A new Casual tone for relaxed replies. Plain words, contractions welcome, still professional.
• Drafts now always close with a warm sign-off instead of a bare "Regards".
• Step by step export guides built into the app for Outlook (new and classic), Gmail, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Zoho, Proton and Tuta, with date range tips so you import months, not decades.
• The About card in Settings shows your installed version.
• After an update, a short tour walks you through what changed. Once, then it stays out of your way.

Before the public release

ReciteMail was built privately for twenty months before it went on sale. These were not public releases and carry no version number. They are what 0.1.0 was made of.

December 2024 to June 2026 - private development

• Dropped mailbox sign-in entirely. Early builds connected to your mail account. That was removed in favour of importing mail you export yourself. The app never needs access to your mailbox.
• Rewrote how a draft is put together. Every reply now follows a proper shape: greeting, body, sign-off and your own signature.
• Tone selector, then a Casual register alongside the professional ones.
• Reusable templates that adapt themselves to each new message.
• Suppliers and contacts, with per-contact context, pinning and a picker built into Compose.
• Per-audience banned words, meaning a phrase you never use cannot reach a customer or a supplier.
• Voice dictation, for notes before a draft and revisions after it.
• Reading an email straight from a window open on your screen.
• Inline translation, for mail you receive and for the draft you are sending.
• App lock, with the local database key encrypted and a recovery code in case you forget it.
• An encrypted local library for imported mail, with search across all of it.
• Backup and restore for your entire setup.

November 2024 - first prototype

• The first working build. It read emails you had already sent and drafted a reply in the same voice. Rough, entirely local and enough to prove the idea was worth twenty more months.
